Chelsey Schmidt is a Michigan Native, who started dance at the age of three. Dancing throughout her childhood with Sawyer Dance Academy, she challenged herself by auditioning for the Sawyer Dance Troupe and began competing around the Country. By High School she started her choreography career in a shared-time school program with Berrien County Dancers. After graduating, Chelsey attended Southwestern Michigan College to continue her choreography, performance opportunity, and technique, and received her Certification in Dance Teaching within a year. She then decided to further her education in the field by moving to Chicago and attending Columbia College of Chicago where she received her Bachelor’s in Dance in 2016.
Chelsey has performed in numerous locations across the country and performed at thrilling attractions such as Disney World’s Magical Kingdom in Orlando, Las Vegas’ Riviera, Chicago’s Columbia College Dance Center Theater, and the Paramount Theatre in Aurora, Illinois. She’s choreographed for dance studios, cheer programs, pageant numbers and gymnastics. Throughout her career she has studied and taken workshops with many other dance professionals and companies before ultimately deciding to pursue and share her passion of dance by opening her own Dance Academy. She looks forward to sharing her passion and expertise in the art while giving a professional and positive space for kids to truly express themselves and enjoy the health benefits and overall life lessons dance has to offer.
